You may have spotted some exciting news for one of Rippleffect’s long-standing clients recently, after Manchester Arena was confirmed as the second busiest venue in the world.

Manchester Arena, which employs Rippleffect as its retained digital agency, made the announcement after revealing that its sales figures for last year had increased by 12% on 2010 to reach 1.2million. The venue, which has a 15,500-capacity, is placed second behind the London O2 Arena (1.9million) and ahead of Sportpaleis Antwerpen in third (714k).

Commenting on its continued success, general manager John Knight said: “In both number of ticketholders and variety of events this is a tremendous achievement. 2011 has seen some incredibly high-profile performances at the venue including the return of Peter Kay for his final 20-night residency, sold out shows by Coldplay, Paul McCartney and Rihanna and the world premiere of Batman Live and European premiere of Glee Live.”

One of our biggest projects for the arena was the development of a digital platform to raise the venue’s profile, create new advertising opportunities, improve the user experience and increase data capture.

Since the launch of the site, visitor numbers and online bookings have increased significantly. Plus, Manchester Arena has consistently featured as one of the busiest venues in the world and continues to outsell New York’s Madison Square Garden every year.
