Everton Football Club

Having first launched the Everton website in 2003, we have been responsible for continuing to develop and add new features to ensure the Toffees' online presence remains one of the most innovative in the Premier League.

We've produced the Premier League's first vodcasts and podcasts, which became the most downloaded sports podcast on iTunes; allowed fans to post their comments and photographs via Twitter and Flickr during matchdays; and developed an official Facebook application that brings match and ticketing information to 30,000 fans.

In 2012, we achieved another digital first by helping Everton become the first club in Premier League to launch an app for the iPad. The platform appeared in the Guardian as one of their '20 best iPhone and iPad apps of the week' and provides a mix of news, video and other engaging content.

To help the club improve its data capture opportunities, we also developed 'Your Everton' - a personalised network that has allowed over 20,000 registered users to message their friends, post comments and upload their own content.

Other features have included an interactive desktop character based on manager David Moyes to drive traffic; created sponsorship opportunities with brands such as Sky and Mercedes-Benz; and included Chinese and Thai content to cater for the club's international fans. Success achieved by the online portal has included:

  • Increase the number of registered users by 400% in nine months
  • Increase the average time spent by fans on evertonfc.com by 40% over last season
