Following Birmingham City FC’s recent promotion to the Premier League, the club required new, engaging online content which catered for junior fans and complemented the main club website whilst creating new opportunities for reaching older and younger supporters alike.

Brief

Birmingham City FC is based in England's second city and has a long pedigree of success as one of the oldest football clubs in the country and founder members of the Football League.

Results

Using Rippleffect’s extensive experience of working with football clients and reaching younger audiences, the team worked closely with the club to develop two fun and interactive new websites which appeal to two distinct groups; supporters under nine, and those between nine and sixteen. The websites use a variety of content to encourage junior fans to register online, including interactive games, animations, photographs, polls, blogs from the club’s mascot, fun competitions, user-submitted content and embedded videos.

The two sites also have original designs which appeal to each age group and are administered by staff in-house using a user-friendly content management system. By catering for younger fans with their own specific websites the club has quickly established itself as one of the most innovative in the Premier League, generating an overwhelmingly positive response from their younger fans and creating new relationships with this important audience.
